Double Brim Hat Knitting Pattern and Tutorial

After years (yes years) of avoiding it, I have finally decided to publish a tutorial on my Youtube Channel!  I’ve been meaning to do this for quite some time but I chicken out because I don’t like the sound of my voice!

For Originally Lovely’s debut video tutorial, I wanted to share my technique to make a double brim hat!  I know that there are other tutorials out there — I just love the way that I do this so I wanted to share it with you all!  This technique is very simple and creates a neat, almost invisible double brim.

Double brims are a perfect way to add warmth to your hats because it adds an extra layer of knitting right around your ears.  They are also wonderful because they are worked completely in stockinette stitch, who doesn’t love an easy stockinette stitch pattern every now and then?!

This technique is also used to create the waistband in my Cotton Summer Shorts pattern.  Another awesome thing about this technique is that if you don’t like knitting rib stitch, you can use this tutorial to add foldover hems to some of your knits such as mittens, sweater sleeves, etc!

This pattern is designed for a worsted weight yarn but can be customized for any weight — the double brim technique remains the same.

I hope that you enjoy this pattern and my first tutorial video!  Let me know if you have any questions or are interested in seeing any other tutorials on my channel.

With Love, Kaitlin
