No-Hem Tee

I am back! After quite a time off of blogging I have returned with many more patterns and tutorials I hope you all enjoy.

For my first pattern I would like to share a no-hem tee I designed that I absolutely love! Hemming is my least favorite part when working with knits and my go-to summer clothing tends to be quite casual so this tee combines the best of both worlds! It is extremely comfortable, versatile, and very easy to make.

To get the proper fit of this tee, you will need to measure across your shoulders, from just below your armpit to the desired length on your hip, and the desired armhole measurement.

With these measurements recorded, you will cut the fabric. The main color of this tee is actually worked in one piece of fabric up the back, across the shoulders, and down the front. The cutting diagram for this is shown below.

For the accent color, cut about 3 yards worth of one inch strips. This number will vary depending on the fit of your tee. Due to the nature of knit fabric, you do not have to cut along the bias, straight pieces are fine.

Construction of the tee is shown in the diagram below. After completion of step one, you can try on your tee for fit and modify if necessary. If you do so, be careful not to pull too hard on any cut edges of the fabric because we do not want it to curl until the accent color is added.

Finish by trimming any excess accent color on the wrong side and press all seams. Stretch raw edges slightly to get a curled look to the edge. Enjoy!
