Diamond Lattice Hat Knitting Pattern
Hello and happy fall! This week officially marked the beginning of fall for us in the northern hemisphere. With fall comes so many wonderful things but I am always a bit sad to say goodbye to summer.
I wanted to combine two of my favorite things, plaid and diamonds, to make a beautifully unique cold weather hat. I also wanted to design a pattern that was completely, 100% me--so I combined a navy yarn with a marble color and added a fur pom. This hat is something I am sure to find myself wearing all winter long.
I designed this Diamond Lattice Hat in a unique way, which you'll notice when you read the pattern. Using fingering weight yarn, I knit this hat using two strands for the main color stitches, and one strand for the accent color stitches to get that fine, detailed look to the diamonds.
If you absolutely hate knitting with two strands, then you may use DK/sport weight for the main color and fingering weight for the accent. Just be sure that both yarns are the same fiber content and that you test your gauge before you begin.
To develop the intricate lattice pattern, you MUST use two different weights of yarn. Either two strands and one strand or DK weight and fingering weight.
